Where to Eat in Oakland,CA. Some of my favorite spots and what to order.
This 1st in a series.

B Restaurant - my rating B

Got to love it here in the summer. Free parking, Jazz music. I love their truffle fries and my favorite pizzetta is the mushroom one with goat cheese and more truffle oil.

Le Cheval - my rating B+

Probably the best fine dining Vietnamese. They do pack it in around lunchtime.
Haven't been there in an age. Wonder if they are still on Clay St?
Awesome garlic green bean appetizers. Orange flavored beef. Yum!

Bocanova - my rating B-

You can sit outside for brunch or take in a late night little bite.
Mini pork sandwiches with pickled vegetables.
Short rib empanadas.
I would have given them a better rating if they made a nice bloody mary.
Cheap prices.

Bellanico - my rating A

This place rocks! Fried green olives, swiss chard malfatti.
Roasted chicken breast with broccoli rabe.
Short ribs with brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes.
This is my place to go. Close to home, not too expensive and good wines.

Dopo - my rating B

 Buffalo mozzarella and oregano pizza
and sausage and gaeta olive pizza

Commis - my rating A

$$$$$ Small plates - think tapas style.
Wine paired menu is what you HAVE to order.
Some nice french wines paired with my favorites:
Egg, sweet onion, dates and malt.
Vegetables, potato with lemon and sea lettuce.
French chicken, sunchokes, barley and berries.

Oakland has a lot to offer with the revitalized theater, new wine bars,
and restaurants.
Check Oakland out.
More restaurants and more to come...
